It came from a Melaleuca Member.   Thank you.  Love and Blessings   Gloria  This letter is from Leticia Jaurequi, our newest business builder and the mother of 7 you may have heard me talking about.  She is seeking prayers for her 3-month old daughter and their family.   Blessings, Mary     This prayer request came from a fellow Oblate, Leticia Jauqueri.  Please keep her family and especially Luisana in your prayers.   Peace, vivian November 4, 2008   Dear Family & Friends, On August 12th of this year God blessed our family with another beautiful child, Luisana Cecilia.  She was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank weighing 6 pounds & 6 ounces.  Yesterday at her doctor's visit, almost 3 months later, she weighed 9 pounds & 3 ounces.  Two weeks ago at her well-baby check-up her pediatrician informed us that it is very likely that Luisana has a genetic disease (hereditary condition) called Neurofibromatosis 1.  Our baby has not been officially diagnosed since only genetic testing can do that.  Luisana has been referred to Loma Linda for the testing that will confirm or, God willing, prove the suspicion wrong.  Luisana has 24 café-au-lait spots throughout her body.  Six or more of these markings 15mm or greater is a criteria for a positive diagnosis- that is why the pediatrician suspects NF1. It is not the skin discolorations that concern us, but rather what they may develop into.  These café-au-lait spots have the potential of developing into benign tumors throughout her body including eyes, brain, and heart.  There is also a slight possibility that they may develop into cancerous tumors.  Our pediatrician told us the disease itself is not a deadly condition, but it can shorten a lifespan due to the unsuccessful removal of dangerous tumors. In a few weeks, our daughter will undergo testing.  The specialists will specifically be looking for a particular mutation of either of two genes.  Between now and then we would like to ask for your prayers.  Please keep Luisana in your daily prayers especially during the next few weeks.  As any parent would wish, if there are any mutations that might have occurred, we pray that God restores them to normal.  If she is diagnosed with this condition we ask God that her café-au-lait spots remain as cute freckling and never develop into anything serious.  And of course, if it is God's Will that Luisana will have to endure this disease throughout her life, we ask that God grant our family the strength we need to carry this cross.  Please join us in bombarding Heaven with prayers for our precious little girl!
