This is from Barbara, Teri's sister, with an additional message from June. We are very sorry to pass along the news below about Valerie. Thank you for your prayers for the repose of her soul and for the strength and comfort of her family, especially her mother, June. God bless you and yours, Teri & Michael (see below)
Dear Prayer Warrior Family,
It is with great sadness that I report the passing yesterday of our niece Valerie, June Hodges' youngest daughter. She lost her hard-fought battle with cancer as she held her mother's hand. She was an amazing human being, always smiling and joking even to the very end. She suffered tremendous pain and yet was always ready to make everyone around her smile.
It's not surprising that her joyful spirit will continue even in her memorial service. She requested that it be a disco party. Val was always the first one out on the dance floor the minute the music started and immediately got everyone else on their feet. I'm sure she'll be right there with us, perfectly dressed and coiffed, wearing her 4" heels.
She leaves behind a large, loving family who will miss her terribly. Rest in peace, dear Valerie.

and from June...
My dear Teri and Michael:
Valerie passed away yesterday afternoon--no longer in pain and she had been able to give all her messages clearly to everyone as to her final wishes.
We all thank you for the relay of our news about her and for her to the St. Agatha community. You are truly Christians who are a solace to us all. God bless you both in your daily walk in life. Blessings of health and all help you need at this time.
Thank you to all of the wonderful friends and parishioners at St. Agatha's. I am profoundly grateful for all your prayers during this very hard time.
love, June Hodges
In Loving Memory
Almighty God, through the death of Your Son on the cross, You have overcome death for us. Through his burial and resurrection from the dead You have made the grave a holy place and restored us to eternal life. We pray for those who died believing in Jesus and are buried with him in the hope of rising again. God of the living and the dead, may those who faithfully believed in You on earth praise You forever in the joy of heaven. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer of Solace
May Christ support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging, and holy rest and peace at the last.
Amen.
May Christ support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging, and holy rest and peace at the last.
Amen.
